Dovetail Projects - a new inclusive curatorial project in Philadelphia - is pleased to present our first exhibition at Brewerytown’s Atelier Gallery. All Legacies: Eric Stewart & Jaither West features two Philadelphia-based artists who explore themes of identity and cultural narrative in their work. In figurative and landscape-focused paintings, West and Stewart demonstrate distinctive aesthetic approaches. A deep, personal connection to their subject matter can be felt in the rendering of idiosyncratic facial detail and figurative gesture, while the often unreal physical compositions create a liminal space between dream and reality. Depicting both well-recognized icons— like The Jackson 5 and characters from Star Trek—and family members, the artists probe at the delineation between public and private histories, collectively creating imagistic visual spaces that span time and geography.

The opening reception for All Legacies on Sunday, October 4th will also be a book release event for two new publications from This Must Be The Place Press:

- Jaither West: I Want To Go Back In Their Time is a full-length monograph featuring full-color plates of West’s original paintings and an interview with the artist.

- The History of Ol’ Skool Rappers by Eric Stewart is a compendium of portraits and short biographies by Eric Stewart. Originally created as a collaged artist book, Ol’ Skool Rappers is now available as a bound, limited edition publication.
